The Holi Kaleidoscope
A week of build-up, two days of colour, and a palace to recover in.
Begin a conversationView the routeHoli is not watched from a balcony. It is played in the street.
The Holi Kaleidoscope is one of our flagship journeys, and its route changes every year. India celebrates Holi in many ways: with week-long temple festivities in the towns of Krishna's childhood, with drums and songs in Rajasthani villages, and with colour in every lane of every city. We begin a full week before the festival, so the excitement builds as we travel.
On the full-moon night we walk with our hosts to the Holika bonfire, which celebrates the triumph of good over evil. The next morning the colour play begins, the streets turn pink, saffron and green, and strangers become friends. Afterwards we slow right down in a palace, and let the colour wash out.

Six moments you will carry home
The Holika bonfire
On the full-moon night, fires are lit at street corners across India. We join our hosts at theirs.

The morning of colour
Gulal in every shade, music in the streets, and the neighbourhood children winning every water fight.
The temples of Braj
In the towns of Krishna's childhood, Holi lasts a week, with flowers, songs and clouds of colour in the temples.
Vrindavan by night
Prem Mandir lit up after dark, and evening prayers in a town devoted to Krishna.
Sweets for the festival
Gujiya, thandai and the festive kitchen of a family who has invited us in.
A palace to recover in
After the festival, unhurried days in Rajasthan's royal cities and palace hotels.
A different Holi every year, from the lanes of Braj to royal Rajasthan
This route is a starting point, not a script. Every destination, experience and the order you travel in can be fully customised around your interests, dates and pace. The detailed day-by-day itinerary is shared personally with every guest upon enquiry.
Character over chandeliers
A heritage haveli
Stay close to the celebrations, in a restored home with a courtyard and a rooftop.
A home among our hosts
Celebrate with a family and their neighbours, not from behind a hotel gate.
A palace hotel
Lake views, a pool and a spa, so the last days of the journey are slow and restful.
Our journeys are built around people, not monuments

The drummers and singers
Musicians who lead the processions and sing the traditional songs of spring.

The temple communities
Priests and pilgrims who have celebrated Holi the same way for generations.

Our host families
The families and neighbours who invite you in, feed you and paint you in colour.
